REPS MEMBER'S HOUSE SET ABLAZE BY HOODLUMS IN ANAMBRA STATE
In Anambra State, hoodlums have reportedly invaded and burnt down the house of a lawmaker, Paschal Agbodike, representing Ihiala Federal Constituency of Anambra State. The property, located in Ubahi-Mbosi in Ihiala Local Government Area, was said to have been invaded by the hoodlums in the dead of night, as they opened fire and shot sporadically before setting the compound on fire.
According to an eyewitness, the house, consisting of a fully furnished five-bedroom duplex with four living rooms and a kitchen, was set ablaze and completely razed down by the hoodlums, who are yet to be identified, about 1:00 am on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
No life was reported lost, but all the pieces of furniture in the five-bedroom duplex with four living rooms and a kitchen were completely licked up by the fire.
Confirming the incident, Agbodike, a former deputy speaker of the ANAMBRA State House of Assembly, told journalists that he was informed about the incident on telephone on Tuesday and that the hoodlums fled the scene before the arrival of security operatives.
The lawmaker has, however, come out to say that he has no one in mind as suspect and added that he was not certain if the attack on his property was politically motivated or not.
The state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga has also confirmed the incident, saying surveillance efforts have been put in place in the area as the security operatives are assessing the situation.
In his words, “the area has been condoned and security operatives have been deployed in the area. There are ongoing surveillance efforts by the operatives.”
